Massimo Guarini is an award-winning and BAFTA nominated Game Director, Producer and Writer.
Regarded as an auteur of video games, through his career he has collaborated with visionary creators, musicians and directors such as J.J. Abrams, Steven Wilson, Goichi Suda, Shinji Mikami and Akira Yamaoka.
In 2018 Massimo founded his own Guarini Design, a global concept and entertainment company based in Milan, Italy.
Complemented by a roster of experienced writers and producers, the company writes and manages original Intellectual Properties and provides services in direction, management and design for films, television and interactive entertainment.
In 2012, he founded Ovosonico, an independent game development studio that has reached worldwide critical acclaim through emotional titles such as “Last Day of June” (505 Games) and “Murasaki Baby” (Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe).
For his work on “Last Day of June”, the BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) and the IVGA (Italian Video Game Awards) honoured Massimo with a nomination and an award in the Game Beyond Entertainment category. In 2019, he was also honoured with the Individual Recognition Award by Gamesindustry.biz.
While living in Tokyo, Japan, Massimo co-wrote and directed Grasshopper Manufacture’s cult horror “Shadows of the Damned”, working together with legendary creators Goichi Suda (No More Heroes), Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil franchise) and Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill franchise).
Other select game design and directing credits include Ubisoft Montreal arcade hit “Naruto – Rise of a Ninja”, Tom Clancy’s “Rainbow Six 3 – Raven Shield”, the cult action-horror “The Mummy” franchise and Ubisoft’s gaming classic “Rayman”.
